James Checking Out The LBP From A Tropical Location

This week Dan jumped on the phone with the man, the myth, the Aussie legend in content marketing and helping customers online, James Schramko of Super Fast Business and one of Dan’s new favorite podcasts Freedom Ocean. A super-sized episode that caused Dan to spend the past week to say to Ian “Did I tell you what Schramko told me? Have I told you about my interview with Schramko? James has this baller way of dealing with that.”

Needless to say Dan and Ian’s mancrushes run high – after listening to the interview you’ll develop a mind-crush too.

What Caused Dan To Fall Silent For Most Of The Interview As He Feverishly Jotted Down Notes?

  • How James doubled his business every year for 5 years in a row (sound familiar….)

How James Builds His Syndication Machine

  • Are you losing valuable customers in your current short sales models?
  • Do you ever wish you had built your lifestyle business under one domain?
  • “Selling is what you have to do if you haven’t marketed properly”
  • Are you using this proven content syndication model (see the image to the right)
  • Building out your chocolate wheel

Also, listen to find out if you are doing the one thing with your staff that has revolutionized James’ 70+ team operation.

I spent a few hours yesterday navigating a lot of James’ material and then this podcast coincidentally pops up.

As was mentioned on the podcast… he is a Beast!

    Great episode guys.

I’ve been following the LBP for a while, I more so meant it was a coincidence that as I start looking into your stuff you end up doing an episode on the LBP ;)

Am I missing something or is the minimum OAP plan $300/month ?

    • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

Nick try Send Pepper which is the smaller brother of OAP and you can upgrade easily when you need OAP.

        Thanks mate

What sucks about this episode is that it was too short! There was so much more I wanted to know while listening. So…
I’ll have to contact James and see if I can get him on FA. It would be like part 3 in a series — Dan Norris’ Web Domination is part 1, this one part 2 and if James does my show, I’ll make sure it continues on to get even more depth.

    Great stuff Dan and James.

    • http://supremacyseo.com/ Travis Jamison

      +1 to that idea Tim.

    • http://nickmorris.me Nick Morris

He was also on I Love Marketing with a good interview and his own podcast ‘Freedom Ocean’ is great too, especially the earlier episodes.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

Lets do it Tim! I’ve been listening to your show too

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

Hey Tim I totally agree here! would love to hear more from James. Can’t wait.

  • Tom Frearson

Wow, I really need to start building systems! Great episode guys, and thanks to James for sharing so much valuable inside info.

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

      Yeah man me too….

  • http://tigermuse.com/ Johan Woods

Fantastic stuff. Been eying James’ model for a while and attempting to rip, pivot, and jam it! ;)

@facebook-649418568:disqus: does OTR show how to set up a news blog like yours? And, what kind of results are you seeing from it?

    • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

Johan – yes OTR is the exact overview of SuperFastBusiness system. It was made from the summary notes of a one day workshop. Happy to share any results.

      • http://tigermuse.com/ Johan Woods

Great, thanks for the reply, @facebook-649418568:disqus

I’m just curious if and how much of any traffic you’re seeing, and if that leads to more revenue down the line?

        • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

Johan it gets this traffic https://s3.amazonaws.com/269338/otr.png and the leads turn into sales since SuperFastBusiness is the biggest referrer of completed sales goals for my products and services.

          • http://tigermuse.com/ Johan Woods

James, thanks for sharing that, great that it’s driving so much business for you!

          • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

yes considering I have been overseas travelling USA an Europe since the end of September it is solid. The podcasts get 1000 listens per day now.

Really great interview. I’m going to check out James’s stuff. He comes across as a really genuine guy. Thanks a lot.

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

      Thanks Rob!

Somehow I’ve never followed James, but after first hitting up Dan Norris’ podcast, and now this, I’m sold. Hope to see you join Tim’s as well James.

One of the best LBPs of all time. Good reminder that we’re building businesses, not merely muses, so aim big. Shramko is the boss-sox.

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

      No shiz! :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/matjnewton Matthew Newton

Love it love it love it. What’s classic about this interview is not the words he says, but the mental frameworks he is using, the general assumptions peppering his statements, the attitudes etc. Big inspiration.

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

Cheers Mat. Speaking of mental frameworks….

  • Mark

The LBP dropped out of my library when I moved across to Pocket Casts. Now after this gem it is firmly back in my “morning commute must-haves”.

Like others who have commented, I have been a follower of Mr S for a while and he is one of the few in the industry who is a genuine bloke.

One of his (almost moving) podcasts for me was Freedom Ocean, Episode 13 (I think) where he and Tim discuss Outsourcing.

It was relevant to me as I was working for a real life Mr Burns at the time and this episode showed Jame’s empathy and attitude toward the people who are most important to his business – his employees. He doesn’t treat his staff as mere numbers, but acknowledges that they are people with families.

    Nice job chaps.

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

Thanks for that Mark! As we say J$ is the straight shiznit. :P

  • Aaron

Fantastic interview, thanks to James and Dan for this gem. This episode merits a re-listen or two.

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

      Thanks Aaron!

Checked out Office Autopilot. It’s quite expensive. Anyway all the newsletter solutions are SO LIMITED it’s crazy. Still waiting for the correct solution.

  • http://www.LimitlessMindset.com/ Jonathan Roseland

Great insights from @facebook-649418568:disqus but I think I found a way to implement his Open Office Auto Pilot multiple lists strategy without divorcing Aweber. At the bottom of each autoresponder follow up email I added this line:
“Don’t Unsubscribe! If you prefer to hear from Limitless Mindset LESS OFTEN join our weekly digest mailing list!”
That takes them to an optin form where they can subscribe to my weekly digest email and it removes them from my normal list that send out emails every 2 days. #AweberNinja

    • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

      Nice hack Jonathan.

      • http://www.LimitlessMindset.com/ Jonathan Roseland

I have them in spades ;)

  • Jimbo

How much of this is applicable to Physical Products?

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

The mindsets J$ is putting out there def. are impacting the way we think about our Physical product business, but it would be particularly useful for folks with recurring elements to physical businesses…

    • http://www.facebook.com/Jamesschramko James Schramko

This will work with physical products so pretty applicable I’d say

  • http://twitter.com/tullibo Brendan Tully

James’ stuff is legit – if youre in the consulting/SEO services space is fastwebformula membership site is worth signing up to

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

      WORD to that.

  • http://camcollins.com/ Cam Collins

+1 Tim’s comment. One of the best interviews I’ve ever heard you do Dan. As a married guy with two guys and running my own business, I can really relate to James and of course that’s the idea. As Pat Flynn would say; get personal, build trust. Bravo!

    • http://www.tropicalmba.com Dan

      Thanks Cam!!!!
